So far the highest grossing horror/thriller has been ‘The Sixth Sense’ which made £427 million and was a movie aimed at 17-30 year olds. Most modern horror movies today are aimed at 16-25 year olds because they are the type of age group that get together to watch thrillers and so most modern horror films are in the thrillers style to appeal to this target audience. Films like the ‘Paranormal Activity’ series are a good example of this type of movie and how it appeals to the target audience because they can get into groups and watch it in the dark and scar themselves.

Some of the best, most popular and most successful horror films have been classic thrillers like ‘Alien’, ‘The Shinning’ and ‘The Thing’ which all used the thriller style of shocking the audience and making them jump.
